Michał Münnich was a Polish officer who travelled a long road from the Austrian army, to the Polish army. In the years 1918–1920, he fought for the independence of Poland. Nevertheless, the communist regime did not acknowledge his service for the Homeland.

On October 12, 1918, members of the Polish Military Organization [Polska Organizacja Wojskowa, POW] intercepted 1.8 million Austro-Hungarian crowns being transported by train. They gave most of the money to Lucyna Wojtalska.
